Par hasard à un rêve

~About Me~

I live in 19th century France, in a house where you can see the city, aglow with the forever shining stars and lanterns and…yeah, I really don’t live in the 19th century (nor could I because that would be impossible…er not entirely because I could always there in my mind) and though I wish I lived in France, I don’t. I’m just your typical dreamer who is a young aspiring author. And I put quotations on the word young, because I am like really young. As in a freshmen in High School, young. But hopefully, one day soon I will be able to prove to the world that the writers who still have the word ‘teen’ tacked to their age, can still be successful published writers.

First off, my name is Raven. I loathe that name. I really really do. It is not elegant or pretty but it sometimes gives off that dark and mysterious feel to it, and I am very mysterious (my mom calls it insanity.) Really, I’m not one to talk about myself but I do talk a lot so, I will just give you a gist of my writing history.

I started writing when I was five. Then, those stories were about elephants and counterfeit pennies, fascinating right? But yeah, from the age of four I was a avid reader for my mother signed me up for this book club that started kids off early in reading so that would more likely be successful in their entire educational career. Tis was a good idea because today I am an High Honor Roll student and though I don’t understand that (seeing as though I hate homework, test, and did I mention homework?) I am quite proud of myself. But anyways, I have always had a really huge imagination (which my mom keeps trying to classify as insanity.) It gets ridiculous at times, but hey, I’m a writer. We need imagination to keep our characters alive. And speaking of which, I have a lot of characters, and sometimes we go to Starbuck’s and talk. (True story.)

You may ask what I enjoy writing (or maybe you won’t but I mine as well tell you since I am writing about me.) Well, writer’s generally write what they like to read and a few years ago, I picked up my first Jane Austen novel (Pride and Prejudice) and immediately fell in love with the historical romance genre. I had read Jane Eyre before that but I especially liked P&P (not only because I swoon every time I read about Mr. Darcy) because it had nothing to do with sex or anything like that, it was love, pure complicated love, between two people who were human. They had flaws. So, basically I have Miss Austen to think for my dreams of being whisked away by a man in a top hat with a dark and brooding countenance. (Mr. Rochester is my dream husband.)

I love historical films. Especially ones by Masterpiece Theatre (Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, Tess of the D’urbervilles and Sense and Sensibility.) I also like Vanity Fair, Pride and Prejudice, Becoming Jane, Moulin Rouge, Brideshead Revisited, The Phantom of the Opera, The Duchess, Anna Karenina, The Prestige, Titanic, The Illusionist, The Painted Veil, Romeo and Juliet, Chocolat, The Notebook and many many more.

That is all there is to know about me, I guess, but if you want to know more, just ask and leave a comment in my blog sometime, I promise I won’t bite.
