What is the book about?

If you add a pair of authentic Prada pumps and a klutz named Callie Montgomery together, what do you get? Well, you get one hilarious adventure that involves the heroine of this story traveling two hundred years back to Regency England.

On a school field trip to England, Callie is struggling to fit in with the in-crowd, which in her case, consist of Angela, Summer, and the quiet Mindy. When she overhears them talking about hitting a club later that evening, she wants in, but they won’t dare talk to her because she’s on the “D-list.”

Wanting so hard to impress them, Callie takes her mom’s credit card and goes shopping, only to buy a pair of red Pradas. Being the klutz that she is, Callie falls and hits her head and when she comes to, the world around her is different.

Scared and confused, she soon meets the ever-so-sweet Emily who kindly takes her into her house, mistaking her for her long-lost American friend Rebecca Vaughn. Callie who is now Rebecca, must now figure out: how to keep up with this whole charade, get home, deal with the arrogant Alex, Duke of Harksbury and most importantly, help Emily, who is being forced to marry a man she does not love.

Can Callie do this before her time is up?

What did you enjoy about this book?

This book was simply wonderful! The way a modern-day girl was woven into a period setting was done elegantly and what I enjoyed about this book was it’s honesty. Callie is simply a real person. She’s a Plain Jane like so many of the girls in the world today. It was funny, and I cried of joy and sadness for some parts. Can somebody say movie?

What have you read that is similar to this book?

Well, Pride and Prejudice, of course, but Miss Hubbard only loosely based this novel off of that story. The characters are fresh and though there are some of the same concepts, I promise you that you’ll love this book!

What are some of the major themes of this book?

One of the themes that I’ll point out is: It’s okay being who you are. People will either except you or they won’t, and if they don’t, that’s their problem. You don’t need to prove  yourself to anyone.

I have another one, but I think that this one will give too much away.

Who was your favorite character? What did you appreciate about him/her?

I’m going to be risky, and say that my favorite character is Alex. He is a great rendition of Mr. Darcy.  I appreciated his smile. His smile and his accent. Ooh and his sense of fashion! Those cravats…Hey, you’ll see what I’m talking about!
At the end of the book, do you feel hope for the characters?

Let’s just say that the way the book ended was cute but I didn’t want it to end there. The book was just that much fun to read.

Overall review of the book.

I give this story a 5/5. It was funny, thoughtful and beautifully written. Callie is a believable character and Alex will make you swoon many times. Miss Mandy Hubbard has written a wonderful debut novel and I know that this writer will write many more great novels in her future.
